A Documentary about Opioids from Heartbreak to Hope
Backlot was commissioned to produce the 40-minute documentary Gateway, which tells the story of three families deeply impacted by prescription opioids. Pacira BioSciences made the film to show that conventional post-surgery pain management often acts as a "gateway" to long-term opioid addiction.
The unbranded documentary is part of Pacira's "Choices Matter" campaign, which urges patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to opt for non-opioid pain management strategies focusing on changing narratives around pain management to prevent addiction before it starts.
